Rufus is a very sweet gentelman that enjoys the company of other dogs and humans alike. He is around 4 to 6 years old, but he has a lot of life and love to offer the world. He came to us from Fort Worth Animal Care and Control on their last call list.

Originally, Rufus had been adopted from them in 2020. He was fit, healthy and heartworm negative. He was adopted out on a neuter contract. Unfortunately, Rufus returned to the shelter in 2022 and he was severely underweight, heartworm positive and requiring treatment, and he was STILL intact. His personality hadn't suffered a bit, though!

So we loaded Rufus up as an extra tagalong to our rescue pulls for the day and we started him on a journey to recovery. With a high quality, veterinary recommended diet we saw his healthy weight start to come back and his energy returning. Rufus underwent heartworm treatment and he is now thriving.

Rufus is good with other dogs and all the people he has met. He can sometimes need a slower introduction to other male dogs, but he has also proven to be compatible with them as well.

He is neutered, crate trained, appears house trained, microchipped with lifetime registration, dewormed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and on prevention monthly, and he is so ready to meet his permanent family!
