This money is used for the animals and animal related items only. We buy puppy vaccinations, treat un-adoptable animals to make them adoptable, Children's Fair, and various other animal related items. A donation may be made by coming to the Animal Shelter in person or by sending a check or money order, made payable to Animal Shelter Trust/Donation to Lassen County Animal Shelter, 707 Nevada Street, Susanville, CA 96130. Please mark all donations clearly as such. We also have a wish-list that includes towels and blankets (desperately needed), canned and dry dog and puppy food, a rodent-proof storage unit, 10'X 10' or larger (a truck box would be great!), dog beds, dog toys, and rawhide chews. Our wish list will change when we get closer to the completion of our new Animal Shelter in the Fall of 2002. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Service Information for Dogs Adoption: The dog adoption fee for an unaltered dog is $55. This fee includes a $40 spay or neuter deposit and $15 license fee. Altered dogs are $5 and this includes the $5 license fee. Fees may differ from posted amounts depending on whether the dog is spayed, has current license, is going out of the county, etc. With the proof of the spay or neuter of your adopted pet within the time-limit given, the spay or neuter deposit can be refunded.
With a special program hosted by the Lassen Humane Society, it is possible for you to use the $40 deposit to pay entirely for the spay or neuter of the dog adopted. Please call for details. Purchase License: With proof of current rabies vaccination, you may purchase a County Dog License or a City Dog License at the Animal Shelter. The license for an altered dog is $5 and for an unaltered dog it is $15. After August 1st, a late fee of $2.50 for an altered dog and $7.50 for an unaltered dog will be assessed.
A county dog license may be purchased by mail too! Please send a copy of your dog's current rabies vaccination and a check or money order, made payable to Lassen County to Lassen County Animal Control, 707 Nevada Street, Susanville, CA 96130. Accepts Stray Animals: Our facility accepts all stray animals from the public. Scanning (All strays are scanned): Our organization scans all stray dogs that enter our facility for possible microchips.
