Membership: Are you a member of the Humane Society of Rome? We are a non-profit organization that is dependent upon the financial support and generosity of the community for donations and membership. Your support helps us to stay open and provide quality services on a year round basis. Please help us continue our work by joining: Patron $200.00, Corporate/Business $100.00, Benefactor $75.00, Family $30.00, Friendship/Individual $20.00, and Junior (12 and under)$10.00. Fostering: Foster care homes are always appreciated and help in saving lives. Please call the shelter (315-336-7070) to learn about our current foster needs and our program guidelines. Thank you. Service Information for Dogs Adoption: We sincerely hope that we can be of service to you. Anyone interested in adopting a pet must first fill out an adoption application. Our application is designed to help us determine if the adoption is in your's and the animal's best interest and to place our animals into permanent responsible homes. We want to assist you in finding the pet most compatible with your lifestyle. Because the animal's welfare must be our foremost consideration, HSR reserves the right to deny any adoption. Once you are approved, the dog will then go home with you. Our adoption donation and discounts are listed below.
Dogs (already spayed or neutered) - $120.00
Puppies (and dogs NOT already spayed or neutered) - $155.00
We offer Senior/AARP Discounts: Seniors (65+) and AARP members get a 20% discount on all animals adopted that are at least one (1) year or older. Seniors (65+) and AARP members get a 50% discount on all animals adopted that are seven (7) years or older. Purchase License: NYS license fee ranges from $12.50, $17.50, and $20.50 depending upon the dog. Accepts Stray Animals: We also accept Owner Dogs if we have the space at our shelter. Please call us first (315-336-7070) to find out if we can assist you. A cash donation is requested to help us offset the cost of caring for the animal. Pet Education: We do humane education throughout the community and partner with many different organizations. If you are interested in learning more or scheduling an appointment, please call (315-337-1434). We also run a Pet Therapy Program.
