Donation: As a non-profit organization, we rely on donations alone to take care of the animals entrusted to us. We also have a wish list that includes dry cat and kitten food, dog and puppy food, kitty litter, heartworm preventative, stainless steel bowls, and portable crates and kennels. If you would like to donate any of the products on our wish list, please contact us. If you would like to make a donation, please call us.

Fostering: Foster homes are always needed and greatly appreciated. Since at this time we do not have a facility we depend on our foster homes to allow us to save lives. Please email us if you are interested in finding out how you can become a foster parent.

Service Information for Dogs

Spay and Neuter (Low cost discount offered): Our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program was designed in hopes that one day it would help lower the number of stray, unwanted or abandoned animals in the Middle GA area.

If you cannot afford other spay/neuter options and would like to request assistance with spay/neuter surgery from FURever Friends then please fill out form on our website.

Adoption: We strive to prepare our fosters for their new forever home to the best of our ability. We housebreak/litterbox train, crate train, teach to walk on a leash, socialize, etc. Our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible for both the pet and the family. We do this by providing educational material and support after the adoption.

To start the adoption process, we ask that you complete an adoption application. You can find the application by going to http://www.furever-friends.org/forms.html. Our adoption fees range from $100-$150 The adoption fee includes: spaying or neutering, micro-chip, up to date on shots, heartworm tested (treated if applies), one free month of Shelter Care insurance, a "Rally to Rescue" adoption packet and a wonderful new FURever friend!

Pet Education: Are dogs and cats in rescue healthy and well adjusted?
Here at Furever Friends, we screen animals for serious health and behavior problems. Even with the best-behaved animal, however, you should expect to go through a period of adjustment as your pet becomes used to a new home, family, and routine. No animal, no matter where it comes from, is problem free or comes with a health and behavior guarantee, but if you're prepared to provide your new family pet with some time, training, and patience, your reward will be a loving companion.

Do shelters really have purebred animals for adoption?
It is estimated that about 25% of the animals in shelters nationwide are purebred. If you are interested in a specific breed, ask to have your contact information placed on our waiting list of people interested in purebred animals.

Aren't all shelter animals just "secondhand" pets?
Many of our animals are puppies and kittens that will be starting their lives as companions. Older dogs and cats may have had previous owners. You may have to re-educate these animals to some degree. On the other hand, they may have already been exposed to house-breaking and obedience training. Remember, too, that companion animals are remarkably adaptable and have a boundless capacity for love. Just because they lived with someone else first, doesn't mean they wouldn't make a wonderful companion for you.
