Donation: The Vermilion County Animal Shelter accepts donations daily. Examples: Newspapers, bleach, cleaning supplies, plastic paint scrapers, towels and blankets, dog/cat food, puppy/kitten food, Any cleaning supplies,kitty litter, garbage bags, copier paper, paper towels,dog pillows, antibacterial soaps and cleaners, dog/cat toys, monetary donations may be made out to the Animal Shelter or the Animal Shelter Foundation.

Service Information for Dogs

Adoption: Adoption fee is $80.00 for dogs/puppies, this fee includes spay/neuter, first round of shots, rabies vacc./tag, health exam, heartworm testing, flea/tick treatment, deworming, leash/collar, dog/puppy food, and a puppy training video in your packet.Please Note: $50.00 adoption fee for Seniors 65 and older.

Purchase License: May purchase your rabies tags at the shelter, please call 431-2660 for more info.

Scanning (Offered to the public): Watch for our local microchipping clinics that are held once a year. $15.00 to microchip your pets. Microchipping can help us get your missing loved one back home again.

Accepts Stray Animals: The shelter accepts stray animal within Vermilion County and outside of Danville, within Danville city limits you must go to the Humane Society on Collett St. Danville, IL.

Microchipping (Adopted animals are microchipped): All animals adopted out are micro-chipped. The cost is included in the adoption fee.

Scanning (All strays are scanned): Our organization scans all stray animals that enter our facility for possible microchips. Our goal is to find the animals original owner if possible.

Animal Cruelty: To report possible cruelty to animals, please contact our facility at (217)431-2660. Officers are on duty Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30. On weekends and holidays, if it is an emergency situation, please dial 911.

Pet Education: We provide pet education to local schools and organizations, please contact the shelter for more information or to schedule a presentation.

Lost and Found Pet Services: Remember if you have lost your pet, go to your local animal shelter and report it missing. That way they can contact you if it is found. Having a colored picture to submit helps your chances at finding your pet.


Service Information for Cats

Adoption: The adoption fee is $80.00 for cats/kittens and includes microchip, spay/neuter, first round of shots, rabies tag/vaccine, health examination, collar/leash, deworming, flea/tick treatment, cat/kitten food, and free kitty care video with each adoption packet.Please Note $50.00 adoption fee for seniors 65 and older.

Purchase License: Cat license may be purchased at the shelter. Please contact the shelter for fee and information. 217-431-2660.

Scanning (Offered to the public): Watch for our once a year microchipping clinics to bring in your cats to have them microchipped for $15.00.

Lost and Found Pet Services: Come in and fill out a lost pet report, also colored pictures are important and can help in locating your lost pet.

Feral Cat Services: We do have officers on duty Monday through Friday 8:30-4:30pm. Also, for $20.00 deposit a citizen can come in and pick up a trap and trap the feral cats.
