Report a found animal

It is very important to report all found pets to your local city/county shelters since owners may search there as well. The best thing for the pet may be to turn the animal into your local shelter so that pet owners have a better chance of finding their pet. Most shelters will alert you when the pet has surpassed the "holding" period and will allow you to then reclaim the pet or adopt the pet. If you want to keep tabs on the pet, ask for the pet's kennel number.

By submitting this form you agree to receive e-mails from PETS 911 regarding the status of your posting and other information that may be necessary for communication.

Pets 911 wants to make sure you know that some pets are microchipped, which means the owners information can be easily found by "scanning" the pet for the imbedded chip.

To have the animal scanned simply visit your local veterinary office or animal shelter. Both will most likely scan the dog for free. It would be good to call ahead to make sure they are able to scan stray animals.

If you are unsure about who your local shelters are, simply visit the shelters/rescues section of this site for a listing and phone number of those in your area.
