Successful Posting
Hi,
We found a dog on Monday, 11/10, and I posted its description and picture. On Tuesday, we took it to a vet to get it scanned and a chip was found. We were excited until we spoke to the vendors of the chip and found out that they were unable to contact the dog’s owners because their phone was disconnected and their contact information had not been updated. The fact that the original location of the dog was in Missouri was also discouraging. So, we called the county and made arrangements for an animal control office to come and get the dog. When the officer came, she told us that they would be able to obtain the name and last address of the pet owner and that they would make attempts to contact them if possible. We were sad to see the dog go because she was older, a little crippled, and thought she would have little chance of being adopted.
The good news came on Friday, 11/14, when my husband received a call from a woman who was able to describe the dog perfectly and we knew she was the owner. There was some panic, though, because three days had passed and we were very worried that the shelter would no longer have the dog. But… phone calls were rapidly made, the dog was located, and the owners were in their car, driving to the shelter before our phone call ended.
We learned:
**This website is amazing (we’ve received 2 more calls today from other owners which reminded us to delete the posting). If I hadn’t posted, the dog would not have been reunited with its owner. We posted signs in our neighborhood, but the dog had traveled pretty far and the owners weren’t searching here.
**People MUST update that chip information. We wouldn’t have had to send the dog to the county if we had been able to contact the owner.
**The dog was not wearing any tags. Dogs should wear a current phone number or address. The return of the dog would have been so easy and quick if she had been wearing tags.
Thank you for this service
