Shiela the gorgeous rescue cat

Shiela was living in the Animal Care & Control of New York City. The owner left her there, I don’t know when and I don’t know the reason. I just want to say thank you.

Shiela didn’t want to be adopted.

Not like she was unhappy in the Center, where I have to say the animals are very well treated receiving the care and love of workers and volunteers; no. She looked to be indifferent about life. I saw her photo on the web and I knew she was my cat. The kittens and other cats were wonderful, lovely, friendly. “Bring me home” is what you could read in their faces; but who is gonna want a 3yr old cat that doesn’t move and just gives you her back when you try to reach her? Well I wanted.

They checked for diseases, she was spayed, vaccinated and microchipped before I took her home. She is so beautiful. She spent the first week under my bed. The following months she didn’t interact with me and barely ate. I only heard her “talking” in few occasions. She didn’t want to be touched and she was really scared of humans. I wondered how the old owner treated her. I was mad. And I just assumed that Shiela suffered too much to be lovely. At least now she was safe is what I thought… but before my eyes something was changing and Shiela started to trust me. She started to get closer, to ask me things.

One year and a half later, Shiela is the loveliest cat I could ever have. She is happy, she is funny, she plays and she loves that I stroke her. Every single time when I arrive home she is behind the door waiting for me, she takes walks down corridor of my floor and comes back home. She is now an explorer and is not afraid of people any longer. My neighbors love her. I love her.

And I all I can say is thank you.
