A Note from Bari

Recap of 2003

The Pets 911 Auxiliary has surely grown! What a year we have had!. We have helped to place close to 300 animals into loving new homes with our adopt- a- thons! We have had a wonderful fundraiser, raising in excess of $85,000, with funds going directly to the rescue groups! And, we have established the new Pets 911 Auxiliary Emergency Medical Fund!

The EMF Fund is ready to go as of December 2003. It is a new aid to the rescue groups to help them with excessive medical costs as they take in new animals in need. There is no other program like it in our county. We are delighted to be able to offer this help for the next year. Later, and as the fund grows, we hope to be able to do even more for the animals in the care of the rescue groups!

Our most recent events were fantastic!

The Franciscan Renewal Center, opened its doors to us this October to include a Pets 911 Auxiliary Adopt-a-thon along with their traditional "Blessing of the Animals"! Over 40 animal rescue groups were in attendance and 84 wagging tails walked off with their new families that day… because some groups do not do same day adoptions, more will join new families in the weeks ahead!

KPMG, a large national accounting firm has partnered with The Auxiliary for the second year…We had a fun filled day at the AMC theater courtyard at Arizona Center. KPMG had a terrific bake sale going, with all proceeds coming to Pets 911 Auxiliary for the EMF fund! .Adoptions doubled this year over last .. and another 24 happy critters went to new homes that day!

As I review the events of the year, I am proud to say that we, as a community are coming together more all the time. I see the spirit of cooperation emerging. I see groups happy to work together, happy to laugh together, and happy to lend a hand to each other!

This is as it should be, and the animals of our community will benefit from our combined efforts. I am delighted to know that the Pets 911 Auxiliary has helped in part, to achieve this goal

It’s been a great year and I want to thank the board of the Auxiliary for their hard work, dedication, and love! For that is what this truly is…. The labor of love for the animals!.. I would also like to thank the many rescue groups who partake in our events. They are the real heroes… saving lives each and every day.

Here's to a happy holiday to all, and a better year for the animals in 2004!
