Finding home for our nation's pets

I just wanted others to know that with your website, and the loving hearts of dog lovers and Good Samaritans in our neighborhood, the "boys" Hercules and Tank are happy, safe and sound at their home.

I wanted to share a success story with you.

I had agreed to watch my boyfriend’s two male boxers for 5 days. This was exciting for me, because I adore them almost as much as he does! They are his pride and joy.

On the fifth day, I came home to be greeted by the two lovable “boys” Hercules and Tank, but my heart sank as I checked in the backyard and found no dogs. There was no way possible for the dogs to have escaped alone, so my first thought was that someone had come into the yard and taken them.

Immediately I called the police and multiple animal shelters. On the Maricopa Animal Shelter website I found a link to Pets911.com and was able to post a listing for lost dogs that included pictures. I actually thought my efforts were going to go unnoticed, as I had not heard of this website before. I wondered if people would know about the website in order to find my posting and contact me.

He came home and we began the search in the neighborhood. After a couple of hours without luck, we had to come home. All we could do was pray for a safe return, and Brent, the owner, was absolutely positive that we would find them. This gave me hope.

Late that night the phone rang and the woman on the other end, Natalie, began to tell the story of how she and her husband had found Hercules and Tank.

They had been driving down the road when they saw a man standing with a dog without a leash on the side of the road. Something didn’t look right, so they pulled over to find out what was going on.

As it turned out, Hercules (his partner in crime) had gotten himself stuck underneath the road where the canal was. More drivers had pulled over to help out and it took four men to hold on to each other to allow one man to get to the dog and bring him to safety, without falling. Tank stayed with him the whole time, these two do not leave each other’s side!

After he was out of danger, the couple took the dogs with them in the car and brought them home. She immediately looked at websites to see if two boxers had been missing. She did not find anything at first, and after staying with them for hours, managed to find a Boxer rescue center nearby. By the time we had almost given up hope, she found my listing on Pets.911.com and immediately called to tell us the story, and how the dogs were safe in a kennel for the night.

I cannot express enough gratitude from Bent and I about how your site turned what could have been a tragedy into a happy ending. Without your site, no one would have known the dogs indeed had a loving home and two people were searching frantically to find them.

THANK YOU!
